Beauty Dilemmas: Can Eyebrows Grow Back?

Make-up. Eyebrow Makeup. Eyes

If you were around in the 90s when a finely arched, over-plucked brow was all it took to look suitably on trend in the beauty department, you might now be cursing your former, tweezer happy self.

Just as it’s true that a constantly waxed bikini line eventually becomes spartan with not many hairs growing back, so too do eyebrows. In fact, whilst a bikini line can take years of waxing to stop re-growing, the finer, more delicate hairs on our brows can give up the ghost after only one plucking, seemingly never to return.

So, can eyebrows grow back? Anecdotally, if you leave them long enough, brows can regenerate and grow back, but this really does require tweezing cold turkey- a year or more of no plucking, tweezing or altering their shape in any way is needed to give your brows the ultimate chance to return to their former glory.

In the meantime for those desperate to make their brows look thicker and fuller, dyeing them can help give the appearance of bushier brows, if not actually helping them to grow. Similarly, filling gaps with tiny, fine pencil strokes can make brows look denser, as can products like Benefit’s Gimme Brow that include miniscule fibres to bulk up the brows and make them look thicker.

If you’re really keen on growing back your natural brows and want to speed up the process Rapidbrow claims to “enhance the appearance of eyebrow density by 108% in 60 days” We haven’t tried it ourselves, but would love to hear your feedback if you have.
