Who doesn’t love a surprise? I know I do. So when a mystery package turned up at my house I was like a kid at Christmas. Inside, I was thrilled to discover the new BOSS Hugo Boss The Scent For Her.
Hugo Boss The Scent For Her Inspiration
Artistic Director for BOSS Womenswear Jason Wu describes the inspiration of creating a scent for Women from a male perspective:
“There’s something incredibly powerful and innately seductive about a woman dressed in men’s tailoring, which only enhances her own femininity. That’s the idea behind this fragrance, which has the power and strength of the male fragrance, but also has a feminine delicacy to it. It’s like they’re playing in a game of equals – man versus women, both bringing something to the table.”
Hugo Boss The Scent For Her Packaging
The box is a beautiful champagne rose gold. It’s a matte textured box which allows the gold embossed BOSS logo to really stand out. The bottle is a fairly standard shape, somewhere between Stella by Stella McCartney and the Emporio Armani Diamond’s bottle. The fragrance itself has a subtle rose champagne tint making the bottle look rose gold in the light.
The lid is however fashioned on a BOSS designed cufflink for men. Juxtaposing the male and female worlds further. I like the simplicity of the design as it’s far more practical to carry in a bag if using everyday.
Hugo Boss The Scent For Her Notes
Scent wise BOSS have tried to follow a story of seduction with the fragrance starting with a subtle femininity which builds in intensity as time goes on, much like a seduction, from attraction to seduction to addiction. And the notes reflect this.
Attraction – Honeyed peach and Freesia provide the top note
Seduction – Osmanthus the oriental flower covers the mid note
Attraction – Base note of roasted Cocoa finish off the trio
I found the scent of BOSS to be elegant and sophisticated. I was aware of the scent changing over time which kept it fresh. I like to be able to smell my fragrance whilst wearing it, I feel it’s not just the people around me who should benefit. Being an EDP wear time is longer and I could still subtly smell the fragrance 5 hours later.
I’m off to a wedding this weekend and this will be the scent I take with me, not just because it will match my dress, but I think this will take me from day to night effortlessly and goes with the romantic theme of the day.
