Have you ever wanted to sit down with a skincare expert and have them analyse your skin, telling you what your skin type and tone is, the extent of any pigmentation or how hydrated your skin is and then be given a list of recommended skincare products just for your skin? Of course you have. And I bet you thought this type of in-depth, personal service was only available at a very high price. Well I certainly did. Until now.
Boots have recently launched a ground breaking, one of a kind, revolutionary service called Beautiful You.

Beautiful You is a free and impartial beauty service that is tailored just for you. After going through a few straightforward questions about your skin, which you can do either online or in store (available in selected stores nationwide) with one of Boots Beauty Insiders, you will have a personalised diagnosis of your skin type and its needs. Currently 80% of women don’t know what their skin type is, which obviously leads to a lot of wasted purchases. Boots want to change that and give you the knowledge that you need to shop smart.
So let me tell you how the Beautiful You service works:
1. Personal Profile
You can set this up either online or in store. I would highly recommend booking an in store appointment with one of the Beauty Insiders if possible. They will ask you questions about your skin and any concerns you have and help you with anything you are unsure about.
2. Diagnostic Analysis
This is the fancy gadget bit. It looks like an iphone with a lens on it but what this device does it actually analyse your skin – this is used to measure your skin type, oiliness, pigmentation and hydration. The results are then put in to your profile and you can see what the results are and this information stays on your Beautiful You account profile, so you don’t have to try and remember all this information.

And then comes the really snazzy bit. From your diagnosis, the system then produces a full list of all products that will work for you and your skincare needs. And it’s totally impartial, so you don’t just get presented with a list of Boots own brand products but any skincare saviours from any of the brands you will find in Boots.
Diagnosis List – this list is like having the Boots Beauty Insider by your side at all times because not only does the list break down in to categories of need e.g cleanser, serum, moisturiser etc but it then ranks them by percentage of suitability for your skin.
So at the top of the category list you will see all your items that are scored 100% – these are the ones that will help with all your particular skincare needs, and the other items go in descending percentage order. And then you can filter (I love a good filter) by price range, so depending on whether you’re feeling flush or are on a budget or you like to spend more on your cleanser and serum but not as much on your day and night cream – you can filter accordingly. They also include products with offers on, so you can filter by those as well.
3. Beauty Cabinet
Think of this as your online beauty cabinet/wish list/prescription. All the information from your analysis is stored in the cabinet of your online Beautiful You profile. So all your skincare results and all your recommended products. You can also ‘favourite’ items. For me this is great, as I often hear of products I want to try out but then when I go in to Boots, I’ve completely forgotten the name of them. No more, I’ll be able to login to my online profile and look at my favourites.
4. Impartial Advice
And this amazing personalised service doesn’t end there. Every time you log in to your Beautiful You account, you’ll receive tailored tips, tutorials and inspiration. Just for you. There is also an area within your account where the Beauty Insider can add notes for you – like instructions on how and when to use products, a bit like you get on a prescription label.
And then when you’ve picked all your skincare products from your personalised list, either at home or in store with the help of the Beauty Insider, your items can either be picked up in store or delivered to your home.
And all of this service is FREE. This is a service that will take up no more than an hour of your time but will give you the knowledge that you need to care for your skin. And save you a lot of money as you won’t be buying the wrong products for your skin type.

From my Boots Beautiful You service diagnostic analysis, I picked the following items for my new skincare regime:
- Double cleanse – No.7 Melting Gel cleanser and La Roche-Posay Miceller Water
- Serum – Indeed Retinol Reface (Retinol Skin Resurfacer)
- Day cream – Eucerin Q10 Active
- Night cream – L’Oreal Revitalift Laser Renew Night cream
I’m looking forward to trying all of these out, as these are all rated 100% on my personal recommendation list.
