Eyeshadow is without a doubt the first love of my life, it was the sole reason I fell into this beauty blogging world. I must own over 50 eyeshadow palettes and I show no signs of stopping. So understandably I jumped at the chance to review the new Body Shop Down To Earth eyeshadow palettes.
The Body Shop is a brand that until now I only associated with fantastic skincare and dreamy scented body butters.
Their new eyeshadow palettes are beautiful, they are packaged in a sleek black case, close securely, boast a large mirror and a generous pan size (2.2.g per eyeshadow). The quads even have a ‘how to’ guide on the back of the cards they slide out of, which show you how to create three beautiful looks.
Body Shop Down To Earth Eye Shadow Glow Palette
The Down To Earth Glow Eyeshadow Palette is the largest of the three with 8 stunning neutral shadows that will help you create an endless array of neutral daytime looks and spectacular smoky eyes. The eight shadows are: (top row above) Sahara Dune – a matte cream; Aztec Gold – satin gold; Provence Ochre – a gorgeous shimmery taupe; Bengal Granite – a rich cool toned brown with purple sparkle; Peru Clay – matte cool medium brown; Kilimanjaro Rock – bronze shimmer; Zawar Zinc – soft silver shimmer and Black Canyon Onyx – intense matte black.
This palette is a great essential, one that could easily take you from day to night and that you would find yourself reaching for over and over again, whether it’s for work, evening drinks or even as a wedding guest.
Body Shop Smoky Grey Eye Shadow Quad
The quads each contain four eyeshadows. The Smoky Grey quad, also known as Down To Earth – 03, at first glance wasn’t something I was too excited about. In the palette, each shadow looks fairly similar just different variations and finishes of grey, but I am happy to say I was wrong. They swatch very differently to how they appear.
The four shadow are: India Rose – one of my favourites, usually the palest shade is the least pigmented but this is not the case with India Rose, not only does the name appeal to my skin colour but the iridescent peach shimmer makes for the most stunning brow bone and inner corner highlight; Atlas Rhassoul – a matte khaki, I don’t own a single shadow like this one; Cerro Ricco Silver – beautiful pale greenish silver shimmer and Siberia Anthracite – a darker and greener version of Cerro Ricco Silver.
Body Shop Smoky Black Eye Shadow Quad
The Smoky Black quad, aka Down To Earth – 05, could also easily be called the Smoky Blue Quad. This palette contains four perfect shadows to create the ultimate smoky eye.
Scandinavia Steel – cool metallic pale silver; California Lapis – rich navy blue with electric blue sparkle; Australia Quartz – midnight blue/grey with blue shimmer and Black Canyon Onyx, also available in the 8 Shadow Glow Palette – a classic matte black. I do own similar shadows to these but the pigmentation, creaminess and longevity are all consistently good across all three palettes.
I have tried using the shadows both wet and dry as well as over and without a primer. I find using them wet, especially with the Smoky Black Down To Earth – 05 palette really intensifies the colour and packs more of a punch. Over a primer the shadows apply slightly smoother but last just as long without a primer as well. I have enjoyed using these palettes and have been spoilt for choice with what looks I can create. It’s so convenient to have great neutrals all in one palette. All the eyeshadow palettes are great quality, vegan and suitable to wear for those with sensitive eyes.
The Body Shop Down To Earth Eyeshadow palettes can be found here for £22 and £15.
