As a new decade begins, I look back at the top products recently launched and pick out the Best Beauty Products for 2020 across makeup, skincare and hair. These are my top choices – I’d love to hear if you agree and what your favourites are too.
Best Beauty Products for 2020 Makeup, Skin & Hair
2019 flashed by but there were so many brilliant products that I fell in love with.
There are also many products that I have stuck to from previous years, so I have included one or two of them here too. Without further ado, I’ll get straight into it.
Best Beauty Products for 2020 – Makeup
I love my makeup and adore every single product in this list.
Surratt Dew Drop Foundation
This foundation is pricey but absolutely beautiful and I already have a back up in place for when my tube runs out. I don’t use it every day, because I want it to last, but when my skin needs a bit of help, or I just want to look like a glowy goddess, this is the one!
You can read the Surratt Dew Drop Foundation Review, but in short it’s all about a sheer, dewy, hydrating finish that makes you look like you have naturally gorgeous skin. I love this stuff. My shade is no 3.
Charlotte Tilbury Magic Away Concealer
This was a 2018 launch but I have literally used it every single makeup day of 2019. I adore this concealer so much.
It is brightening and correcting and it covers and conceals everything I need it to. It leaves my skin feeling juicy and hydrated and every time I try a different concealer, I end up using this one in shade 3 on top. Check out my Charlotte Tilbury Magic Away Concealer Review & Swatches.
By Terry Hyaluronic Tinted Hydra-Powder
I was delighted when By Terry introduced tinted shade options in their beautiful Hyaluronic Hydra-Powder. This might surprise you as I have fair skin, but I am I am obsessed with N600 Dark.
I have been using it to warm up my complexion whilst perfecting it at the same time. It’s perfect for powder-phobes like me, because rather than overly mattifying or drying the skin, it fills in lines, wrinkles and pores and makes everything look hydrated and super smooth. Milk Makeup Flex Highlighter
This highlighter in shade Lit always gets me compliments on my glow. You can use a soft, fluffy brush for a diffused glow, or a denser brush for the kind of highlight that can be seen from outer space!
It’s a powder highlighter that acts like a liquid which makes it beautiful to apply, blend and deliver long lasting radiance. Read Milk Makeup Flex Highlighter Review & Swatches.
Charlotte Tilbury Charlotte Darling Palette
I love Charlotte Tilbury eyeshadows, but sometime the full 12 shade Instant Eye Palettes can be too much. Charlotte Darling is a brilliant edit of the brand’s most popular shades presented in a super sleek mini palette that’s perfect for your makeup or travel bag.
It has the perfect balance of mattes and shimmers and all the finishes are super flattering for every age and skin type. Read Charlotte Tilbury Charlotte Darling Palette Review & Swatches.
Best Beauty Products for 2020 – Skincare
On to skin which is a beauty category I love just as much as makeup! Here are the new launches I recommend for 2020 that I have been obsessed with.
NIOD Copper Amino Isolate Lipid
There was only one new launch from Deciem’s NIOD brand in 2019 and it’s an absolute stunner. The original serum is one of my favourite skincare products of all time, and this new moisturising addition is going down extremely well in my routine. It was love at first swipe.
The hype was real because it sold out really quickly and has been getting amazing feedback. It has only just come back into stock*. The first time I tried it, it made my skin instantly glowy and plumped up – just how I like it. If my skin needs a fortifying boost, I go straight for this, and it can be used on it’s own so it’s ideal if you need a quick skincare regime. Read NIOD Copper Amino Isolate Lipid 1% (CAIL) Review.
DECREE Weekly Decree Airbrushing Acid & Paste
If you love an acid treatment, you will obsess over this! It’s an amazing weekly treatment that delivers instant and lasting results.
The Airbrushing Acid is pure and potent – a fine, clarifying gel mask of resurfacing acids plus fruit enzymes which intensely exfoliates. The Replenishing Paste is a mask designed to be applied directly after the acid peel to soak the skin in repairing active ingredients. It has been designed to put all the essential lipids and hydration back into the skin post-exfoliation. Read the DECREE Weekly Decree Airbrushing Acid & Paste Review.
Marie Reynolds Skin Quencher
I love Marie Reynolds as a person, and I love her products almost as much! One of her latest launches, the Skin Quencher is an absolute beauty and the most amazing hydration booster.
It is packed with ingredients that nurture, nourish and help to regenerate the skin. It is a luxurious blend of Squalane, Matrixyl 3000 and Hyaluronic Acid. Absolutely everyone can use this, even the most sensitive skins. And if you love juicy looking skin, you’ll want this. Read Marie Reynolds Skin Quencher Review.
Votary Super Seed Facial Oil
Another favourite all rounder is this beautiful oil, the Super Seed Facial Oil from British brand Votary. It has a blend of 22 super seed oils and includes everything from chia to broccoli to pumpkin to melon to raspberry. It is cold-pressed and blended in the UK in small, fresh batches, so you always know you are getting something super potent.
It’s a beautiful oil for dry, dehydrated or sensitive skin (or absolutely any skin type to be honest) as it’s so light yet it gives the skin a gorgeous glow while it comforts. Love it.
Elizabeth Arden Great 8 SPF 35
I use a suncreen all year round. I tend to use an SPF 50 during the summer months (I love Dr Sam’s for heavy duty protection) and then a 30 during the winter. Arden’s Great 8 is absolutely perfect because it delivers SPF 35 protection in a light, moisturising formula that sits beautifully under makeup.
It is packed with skincare ingredients and protects against the effects of sunlight, blue light, infrared and pollution. It also hydrates, purifies, brightens and balances.
Best Beauty Products for 2020 – Hair
I am a major DIY-er when it comes to my hair. In fact I am slightly ashamed to confess that I haven’t been to the hairdresser for over a year. Yikes – that has to be one of my New Year resolutions!! I love doing my hair at home. The following are my top recommendations for 2020.
L’Oréal Professionnel Steampod 3.0
This is a fairly new discovery, but I am absolutely obsessed with it! It is the first straightener I have ever been able to use to wave my hair. It is almost a miracle!! Usually I find it impossible.
The Steampod gives glossy, smooth and bouncy waves (and of course straightens) and even works really well on unwashed hair. I absolutely love this tool and have used nothing else since I first tried it about a month ago. I haven’t had a chance to write a review on it yet, so let me know if you have any questions!
Olaplex No 7 Bonding Oil
I love a hair oil and this one is super light and super effective. It’s the latest step in the Olaplex system. Even if you’re not an Olaplex devotee, you can still get involved.
For me, the most exciting part of this oil is that is provides heat protection up to 450°. As a serial user of high heat, I like to get heat protection into my routine at as many stages as possible.
I smooth it through the dry strands just before curling. It’s so light that it’s the perfect nourishing heat protector to use before using heat on dry hair, even if you’re a few days in after washing. Read Olaplex No 7 Bonding Oil Review.
I use this oil mainly on dry hair for heat protection. My all time fave oil for damp hair is Kerastate Elixir Ultime.
Clairol Root Touch Up
This is by no means a new product, but I have relied on it for years. Because I’m not good at getting into the salon, I need an easy and lasting way to cover grey roots quickly, and this is it!
It is so quick and easy to use, matches to any professional or home dye, and as soon as I spy greys, I whip it out and banish them! This means I can extend the time between full hair colour which really helps to protect the condition of my hair. Read Clairol Root Touch Up Review & Demo.
Nexxus Therappe & Humectress
This shampoo and conditioner duo is professional quality at a super affordable price. It is all about fortifying the hair with hydration which, for me, is the secret to strong and shiny hair.
The combination instantly hydrates and smooths the hair and the large bottles last forever (as long as everyone else doesn’t steal it, which is what tends to happen in my house!).
I think that’s about it in my round up of Best Beauty Products for 2020. I’ll probably remember loads more, but right now, these are the ones at the forefront of my mind. I hope you have found this useful!
