B. Nourished & Optimum PhytoDeluxe Skin Care

Superdrug don’t make a big song and dance about their own brand skin care ranges and they really should. They have two ranges which make it really straightforward and simple for everyone to understand what products they need for their age.

As we know, our skin changes as we get older meaning we must adapt what we are putting on to our skin, so that the products we use cater for the specific needs and issues of our age range.

Skin care generally is now very sophisticated and we are bombarded with adverts that say we must be using products with ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, Glycolic, Retinol, Salicylic Acid, AHAs… the list goes on.

How are we, the consumer without a PHD in chemistry or dermatology meant to know what we need to be putting on our skin and at what age?

That’s where Superdrug’s B. and Optimum range come in because they’ve done all the working out for you and have categorised their range in to age bands.

The first range I want to tell you about is B. This is a range which is for ages from 20 to 55+. All the products in this range are cruelty free and suitable for vegetarians and vegans.

The B. range is made up of four skins phases:

• Phase 1 – for your 20-30’s, this phase helps to enhance the skin’s youthful appearance and help protect against the first signs of ageing
• Phase 2 – for your late 30-40’s, this phase helps to reduce visible signs of ageing
• Phase 3 – for your late 40-50’s, this phase helps to fortify, protect and combat visible signs of advanced ageing
• Phase 4 – for your late 50-60’s and beyond, this phase nourishes, protects and helps to reduce the appearance of more advanced lines and wrinkles.

I’ve been trying out three products from phase 4 – the B. Nourished Day Cream, Night Cream and Eye Cream.

B. Nourished Day and Night Cream – phase 4

Both the day and Night Cream have an advanced active regime, provide 12 hour moisturisation and help to reduce the appearance of deep lines and wrinkles in just 4 weeks. The Day Cream also has a SPF 25.

Both creams also have the same quality ingredients and these include:

• Spanish Needle – a Retinol like botanical to improve radiance, texture and restore firmness in mature skin
• Hyaluronic Acid – provides long lasting moisturisation
• Vitamin B3 – to brighten skin

Both these creams feel luxuriously creamy and indulgent. When I apply these creams it feels like I’m giving my skin a real pampering. I have combination skin so veer away from creams that are too rich or greasy but neither of these are like this. My skin is left nourished and smooth. Find them here

B Eye Cream – phase 4

This eye cream has been formulated to plump, smooth and boost under eye radiance and give 12 hour moisturisation. Using this Eye Cream will help to reduce the appearance of more advanced lines and wrinkles. What I love about this cream is that it helps to de-puff tired and hayfever itchy eyes. The cream also gives a very light shimmer to make the under eye area look radiant and brightened.

B. Nourished Eye Cream Ingredients include:

• Persian Silk Tree extract – reduces crow’s feet and helps to lift the upper eye area
• Rosemary Leaf extract – helps to combat free radical induced ageing
• Hyaluronic Acid – provides long lasting moisturisation

The other range from Superdrug is Optimum PhytoDeluxe. This range has been formulated for women aged 40+ and the products in this range are designed to deeply nourish the skin and improve its texture by firming and smoothing fine lines and wrinkles.

I’ve been trying out the Night Cream.

Optimum PhytoDeluxe Comforting Night Cream

The packaging of this Night Cream makes it look much more expensive than it actually is. It looks serious and it is. The Comforting Night cream is infused with Platinum and Black Diamond Truffle to revive, firm and smooth.

This cream promises to instantly make skin feel both nourished and comforted, and it really does. After two weeks, it promises that skin will appear more luminous and after four weeks, skin will look and feel revived and noticeably smoother. I have been using this for almost two weeks and I can confirm that this is so comforting to use at night and my skin definitely appears brighter and more luminous.

This Night Cream has a non-greasy formula and is enriched with Shea Butter, which gives a velvety rich texture.

Optimum PhytoDeluxe ingredients include:

• Vitamin E – helps to shield skin from free radical damage and premature skin ageing
• Pro-Vitamin B5 – moisturising and conditioning
• Black Diamond Truffle extract – rich in Amino Acids, helps to tonify skin and improve the moisure balance

Both of these ranges have the same ingredients used in high end skincare products, but at a fraction of the cost. Superdrug does not make the claims on their packaging lightly and I am very impressed with the improvement I have seen in my skin so far.
