I rarely used to bother with powder as I was totally obsessed with looking dewy, even at the risk of shine. But I have kind of changed over the last year or so and now totally appreciate the value of a good setting powder. I hate the look of powdery skin, so it needs to be super light but long lasting enough to tackle shine for a good while. The Amazing Cosmetics Velvet Mineral Powder Set ticks all the boxes for me.

So this powder looks really white in the pan but it is actually practically invisible on the skin. I use a fluffy brush to lightly dust over liquid or cream products and it instantly sets my makeup, takes away shine, but leaves a natural radiance on the skin.

I hate it when powders take away all the luminosity that my foundation has imparted on my skin. A chalky powder can render the most beautiful foundation flat. What’s the point of that?!

As you can see, the powder looks pretty light like this, but over makeup it is pretty much undetectable and that is what I love about it.
I have had this powder for a while but I decided to feature it because it was worth its weight in gold at the weekend. I went to a wedding and was getting ready in a rather warm hotel room. I also curled the life out of my hair which always makes me hot and sweaty and I felt like my makeup was melting quicker than I could apply it!
I dusted the Amazing Cosmetics Velvet Mineral Powder Set all over and then did a light second layer over the what had been the sweatiest bits (namely the upper lip) and I was pretty much set for the day. It was a bit of a scorcher but the makeup held up really well. Job done by said powder!
It definitely gets the seal of approval from me. Amazing Cosmetics Velvet Mineral Powder Set is £20.99 for 9g. Worth the spend if you get a shiny t-zone but don’t like anything too matte.
