Alpha H has given their cult classic a facelift (sorry!) – let me introduce you to Alpha-H Liquid Gold Rose. Liquid Gold has been a bestseller and award winner for years and if you are a diehard skincare fan I am sure you have either tried it, heard of it or have it in your stash. Liquid Gold is one of the original glycolic acid toners which rode high on the acid toner wave. It is still frequently featured as a top 10 skincare essential and endorsed by skincare experts around the world.

So how different is Alpha-H Liquid Gold Rose from the Original I hear you ask? Well, it uses the same formula outline of Liquid Gold and blends it with a multitude of botanical, mineral and antioxidant goodness as well as a bunch of clinically proven hydration boosters. You also get the added benefits of Rose, Orchid Petal and Scared Lotus. So what do these additional ingredients do for you?
Rose – a heavyweight in the skincare game, Roses are well known for having anti-ageing properties. It also acts as an anti-inflammatory so perfect for those with dry, stressed or mature skin. Rose additionally has vitamins A, C D and E and laced with fatty acids.
Sacred Lotus – this contains an acid which helps to improve the texture of skin. It also diminishes fine lines and wrinkles.
Orchids – the petals stimulate the skin and help with oxidative stress which plays a major role in ageing.
As well as Dead Sea salts, red algae, calcium, magnesium and potassium this is the perfect “aromatic sleep-in facial” so overnight your skin is resurfaced and you surface a brighter, glowier you.
To use, simply apply to a cotton pad and sweep over the face at night time to a freshly cleansed, dry face. Once you have let it absorb and the skin has become tacky to the touch, apply your usual moisturiser. For a more concentrated treatment don’t apply moisturiser. Don’t be alarmed if you get a tingling sensation. This is perfectly normal and should subside after a minute or so.
So what do I think?
I think this is Gold (apologies!). As a devoted fanatic of the original I was interested to see what the difference was with this limited edition version. I actually tested one on one side of my face and one with the other. I did note that the side with the Liquid Gold Rose tingled, whereas the regular Liquid Gold didn’t cause any tingling.
Results wise, this is hard to gauge as it is something that happens over time. I use it as a precautionary measure for ageing and to help with any textural issues I have. I have seen some people who have had great results with discolouration and acne scaring too. Plus I think everyone should have some sort of acid toner in their routine, and both the Liquid Gold and Liquid Gold Rose are brilliant and super easy to use.
Personally I think if you are already a fan, then the Alpha-H Liquid Gold Rose is well worth it, and if you’re in the market for an acid toner I would grab this while you can. And before I sign off, no I didn’t forget about the serious packaging goals.
