Albus & Flora are a completely new brand to me. After reading into their philosophy and the stories behind their “beautiful yet effortless” products I do think this is a brand to watch out for. They seem almost ahead of their time in a way. Their ethos promotes “high performance, modern active skincare that inspires you to live a healthier, happier, more active life”. The three Multi Active Albus & Flora lip balms, tinted and sheer, are all a testament to that exact statement.
Albus & Flora Lip Balm Swatches
Naked Flora (yellow lip balm) is a clear, low-shine balm suitable for men and women. Nude Flora is a tinted lip balm which produces a very sheer peachy pink nude on the lips. Snowberry Red is a sheer berry red that I think will look gorgeous in winter.
Albus & Flora Lip Balms SPF
The distinguishing feature that sets these lip balms apart from the copious others I have tried is their broad spectrum UVA and UVB protection. All of their Multi Active lip balms, both tinted and clear, contain an SPF 30. Not many of us think about protecting our lips from the sun but this makes doing just that simple and I go about my day feeling like a better person knowing that my lips are protected.
Albus & Flora Lip Balms Packaging
What I love about these lip balms are the look and feel of the actual product. They are unlike anything I have ever tried. The weighty bullets and clickable closure feel well made and luxurious, justifying the higher price. The design is simple, sleek and cool with some fun injected with the bright colours.
I am guilty of abusing my lip balms because I toss them around like they are worth nothing. However, I take much better care of these because they feel and look pretty and unique.
On the lips, the balms feel exceptionally moisturising and last longer than other brands I have tried previously. Throughout the day I forget it’s even on because it feels so comfortable. The sheer colour of the tinted lip balms are easy and flattering to wear. Of the two, Nude Flora is my favourite, because it just makes my natural lip colour a little brighter which in turn helps me appear more awake.
Looking at the ingredient list, each balm is full of amazing oils and boast similar ingredients: alpine rose extract; cranberry and raspberry seed oil; seaberry, avocado and blackcurrant seed oils; and jojoba, grape and sunflower oil, to name a few.
Over time, I have been using these for a week, I have noticed that my lips are significantly less chapped, are smoother and softer. Whereas prior to using the Multi Active lip balms I would likely be swiping a lip balm on my mouth every few hours I can go throughout my work day without applying an extra layer at all.
Discovering Albus & Flora has been a pleasant surprise as I have discovered a new staple in my skincare routine. I now make sure to apply Naked Flora every night before I go to sleep and Nude Flora just before I step out the door. In the coming winter months I know I will interchange Nude Flora with Snowberry Red. For a girl who has a deep aversion to lipsticks these tinted lip balms are a blessing. I can’t recommend them enough and I will definitely repurchase.
