I really like the packaging. Skincare housed in jars are usually a no go because when the product is exposed to the environment it will immediately start to degrade and every time you dip your finger in, it is contaminated. The Total Overnight Retinol Masque comes in a really handy airless jar that dispenses the right amount of product and prevents contamination.

Total Overnight Retinol Masque by Image Skincare feels like a rich cream. On first application, I was expecting it to sit heavily and be too clogging for my oily skin. Actually, it soaks in very quickly, leaving my skin feeling moisturised. The mask is literally sucked into my skin in seconds.

If you have ever used a retinol or retinoid product with a decent percentage, you will know that retinoids cause peeling and dryness after the first few uses. This makes it very important to introduce retinoids slowly. The other important pointer is that, while using retinoids, you absolutely must use a broad spectrum SPF product in the day.

I introduced the masque slowly by first using it once a week for the first week, then twice the next week. After the first use, sure enough, two days later I had some peeling on my forehead, chin and nose. The peeling only lasted a couple of days and I take it as a sign that The retinol is working. The peeling only occured in the first two uses in my case. Everyone is different and you may find 3% Retinol strong for your skin. It may take longer for you to work up to the recommended three times a week. Image promises a 30% increase in firmness over 30 days.

It is hard to say if my skin firmnesss did increase by that amount. However, it definitely looks brighter and plumper. I think the wrinkles around my eyes look better. You can judge yourself from the before and after pictures.
