Since it’s the peak of summer I thought it would be appropriate to talk about sunscreen and the importance of wearing it daily. I’ve always been pretty religious about sunscreen when the sunshine levels are high. Recently I have been road testing this Aenea Skin Modern Shield which is what I wanted to talk about today…
Aenea is a skincare line that is based on the science of Epigenetics. This claims to make your skin feel healthier, look younger and more importantly creates a barrier for your skin to protect against pollution and UVA & UVB.

I’ve been using the Aenea Skin Modern Shield daily for the past couple of weeks and it’s been working very well. My morning routine is pretty consistent. I usually go ahead and cleanse my skin with my favourite Oskia Rennaisance cleanser which just refreshes my skin. I follow up with La Mer Brilliance Brightening Lotion which is super hydrating and brightens my skin.
Depending on how my skin feels I usually layer with a serum or treatment to keep my skin in check. I’ve been using The Ordinary Hyluronic Acid and it works amazingly well in keeping my skin looking fresh and plump. Finally, I apply sunscreen before my makeup application. I find the Aenea works well under makeup as it is not greasy and a little goes a long way.
The Aenea Skin Modern Shield has an SPF of 35. It also claims to protect skin from high energy visible light from computers, which I am glued to on a daily basis. I’ve been using this sunscreen for around two weeks now and I find it to work very well with my day to day routine. I think it’s definitely one of the better sunscreens I have tried for a while.

I really like the texture of this as it is non-greasy and your makeup stays on all day without looking shiny. The packaging of this is very sleek too although I wouldn’t say it’s travel-friendly. It is pretty bulky but very modern and chic to keep on the vanity.
The Aenea Skin Modern Shield contains Ormesia which claims to have incredible powers to protect skin from indoor and outdoor pollution. Maracuja plant is also a key ingredient and is widely in food and medicine. It is rich in antioxidants and increases the skin’s collagen levels and elastin.
Overall I’ve been really enjoying this sunscreen. In terms of knowing if the scientific claims are true, I would have to test it longer to review results.
If you are in the market for a good sunscreen then I think this one is good. However, for me personally, I think the price point is a little steep at £95. If you’re into all the scientific claims and technology when it comes to skincare then this one is definitely one to consider.
