Paul Mitchell ‘It’s My Party’ Styling Range Review

“It’s my party” as the famous song goes. Or according to Paul Mitchell, it’s a new styling range to “celebrate the girl who’s always ready for her close- up and brings the party wherever she goes”

This is a range of four duos to get your hair party ready and to save having to use a filter on those selfies. All duos also come with a free geometric hairpin, the style of which is the same on all duos.

Paul Mitchell It’s My Party – Amp it up Duo £23

This duo firstly includes a 200ml Sculpting Foam- a conditioning foam which is designed to make waves and eliminate static. This is a product which helps control frizz whilst adding moisture- best of all, it has a lovely coconut scent- perfect for summer!

The next product in this duo is Thicken Up styling liquid. This was the one I was most interested to try as I have baby fine hair which doesn’t hold any style or have any volume at the roots. This can be used on wet or dry hair and helps protect hair against sun damage. I tried this on the hottest day of the year so far, and I did actually notice that my hair had more volume, as did my twin sister who has now “borrowed” this from me. We’ll see if I get it back! Paul Mitchell It’s My Party- Down to Party Duo £23

The first product in this duo is Super Skinny Serum, which not only is a lightweight serum but also claims to reduce dry time. My hair dries pretty quickly as it is so fine, but I did notice a couple of minutes shaved off my usual time. This does a great job of reducing static and fly aways and I’ve used this every day so far and would definitely repurchase.

Next up, is Stay Strong Express Hairspray which is a super hold but flexible hairspray. Not only is it the perfect size to take on a night out but it’s also a humidity fighting hairspray. I haven’t tried this on a night out, but on the hottest day of the year so far, combined with the Thicken Up, it seemed to reduce humidity on my hair.

Paul Mitchell It’s My Party – Up For Anything Duo £19

This is the volume building duo, for those who need a little bit more oomph in their hair.

Extra Body Daily Boost is a root lifting product that’s sprayed into the roots on wet hair and the volume increases as the hair dries. As I “lost” my Thicken Up to my twin, this little gem is all mine. I’ve tried other root lifting products before and this is the best of all I’ve tried so far, to be honest I doubt I’ll look any further.

Extra Body Sculpting Foam is a traditional mousse style product; unlike traditional mousses this doesn’t crackle when used and certainly doesn’t give the stiff crusty effect we’ve experienced in the past, especially if like me you were at high school in the 90’s! Find this duo here

Paul Mitchell It’s My Party – High Drama duo £19

Hot Off The Press is a thermal protecting hairspray – this not only protects the hair but also helps hold the style in place too. I found my hair had far less static than usual when using this- I can often “shock” others my hair has so much static, so this worked really well for me. This, in my eyes, is a 2 for 1 product as it saves time when styling- I’ve also used this daily since receiving it.

Fast Form is also a reduced dry time product but it also claims to commit your style to memory providing holding and smoothing benefits whilst protecting the hair and feeling lightweight. This is a cream gel so I was a little wary, again I blame 90’s school days for my hair trauma fears! Forget what you think you know about gel though, this feels more like a serum and has a nice clean fruity smell. Find this duo here

My picks of the bunch are; Thicken Up, Super Skinny Serum, Extra Body Daily Boost and Hot off The Press. If like me at least one product from each duo appeals- treat yourself. These products are great quality, and as such, a little goes a long way. So although the price may seem higher than many high street brands, in my opinion they’re worth it. Find the whole range here
