5 Tips To Take You From Office To Christmas Party Fast!

`Tis the season for the office Christmas party, and for many of us that means a mad 6pm dash from office to party with no chance to go home and get glamorous in between.

If your party prep is likely to happen in the office toilets, elbows knocking against the cubicle walls as you try and squeeze from sober suit into slinky dress, make up hurriedly applied under the unflattering glare of fluorescent strip lighting, then these tips to looking gorgeous fast are for you:

Pre-prepare Your Body

A sudden full fake tan can look too much in mid winter if you’ve spent the rest of autumn looking a delicate shade of pale aspirin. But a subtle change over a few days from a gradual tanner can help to give you a party ready glow without anyone noticing what’s changed.

If you’re planning to wear a dress that shows lots of flesh remember to moisturise the morning of the party to avoid dry, flaky winter skin. Many body lotions have a subtle shimmer that can look flattering and festive on the upper arms and shoulders and help them look more toned and even too. Shimmery body butters work just as well and are easiest to throw in your bag for last minute pre party moisturising if your skin is especially dry.

Set the Right Foundations

Prep your make up in the morning by using a great primer to hold your base in place for as long as possible, and carefully applying a long lasting foundation over the top. Then just add extra foundation at the end of the working day in the areas where it’s really needed. A powder foundation is great for this as you can retouch easily without starting fresh or worrying about it becoming patchy. Top tip: try and avoid wearing primers and foundation with SPF to a party as these can create a white flashback in photos, leaving you looking more ghostly than glamorous.

Highlight with Shimmer

Although this is still a work event and you want to look professional, there are ways to make your look more Christmassy without scaring your colleagues, or sending Darren from accounts into a fluster. A subtle shimmer highlighter on your cheek and brow bones is a festive way to add a little glamour, is easy to smudge or brush on quickly and very difficult to get wrong, even if applied in the worst lighting.

Make Your Eyes Sparkle

The office toilets might not be the best place to start attempting an elaborate and exacting flicked eyeliner unless you are the kind of person that can apply it in your sleep.  However, a dark, glittery line applied close to the upper lashes using a smudgeable pencil or pressed on using a shimmery shadow, will make your eyes pop and turn a daytime look to evening quickly and easily.  Add a quick swish of dark shadow in the socket and a coat of lash thickening mascara and your eyes will look like they’re ready to party.

Make An Impact With Your Lips

Christmas parties are the one time of year when you can really go to town with your lip colour, even if you stick to a strict nude lip rule for the rest of they year. A slick of red lipstick, or a berry toned gloss if red and bold is not your thing, can instantly transform your look, and can be applied in seconds.
