We all love a good spa day – the chance to relax and get pampered, to de-stress and unwind. Hitting the reset button once in a while feels great, but let’s face it – they can never happen often enough. The next best thing to booking yourself into a resort every weekend is getting a similar experience at home, and for that you need the right products.
One company who might have the answer is Malée Natural Science, a health and beauty company from sunny South Africa. Formed in 2010 and named after founder Zeze Oriaikhi-Sao’s great grandmother, their mission is to bring natural spa products to your home and awaken your senses. Their products use natural ingredients such as shea butter, cacao seed butter and avocado oil and exclude nasties like allergens, silicones and parabens.
Malée Conditioning Body Cream Packaging
I’ll be taking a closer look at Malée’s conditioning body cream which is part of their Verdure range.
Let’s start with the packaging – the product is beautifully wrapped and looks luxurious. The design takes inspiration from the South African wetlands, with oily swirls of natural algae adorning the bottle. It feels contemporary, premium and natural.
Malée Conditioning Body Cream Ingredients
The fragrance is fresh, with hints of citrus, mint and patchouli. I found the scent to be strong but not overpowering, but quickly settled to a more delicate aroma after application.
The product’s ingredients include avocado oil, sweet almond oil, shea butter and wheatgerm oil, so it’s got all the vitamins and essential oils we’ve come to expect from premium natural skin products. The consistency is thick without being greasy and rubbed into my skin easily.
I do tend to suffer from dry skin, so one thing that struck me about the product and rather confused me was the many warnings on the bottle which advised me not to use it if I had sensitive or broken skin. I do tend to suffer from dry skin, particularly after a couple of chilly days so was a little wary of using the product at first, but went ahead regardless and actually found it quite soothing with no signs of irritation.
Malée’s Conditioning Body Cream Results
After around a week of daily use I really came to love using Malée’s Verdure conditioning body cream. I used it after a shower or bath in the evening, which really did give me that luxury spa feeling. It made my skin feel really soft and silky which after a day at work was a real treat. The bottle has nearly run out, and I’ll definitely be getting myself some more, and I’m keen to try other Malée products too.
Speaking of which, I did also have some mini hand cream samplers from the Verdure range too. These had the same scent as the body cream but were slightly lighter in texture. My hands do get very dry and I did suffer a slight reaction to them. It’s worth starting with really small amounts if you have dry skin too.
Overall I’m excited about Malée and their range of natural skin products, especially the body cream and any others that can bring that luxury spa feeling to my own bathroom.
