Christmas might be a bit different for most of us this year, but I fully intend to put my full glam on and enjoy the day as best I can! In case you want to join me, I thought I’d share Christmas Glam Hair Tutorial using one of my most loved hair tools ever, the L’Oréal Professionnel Steampod 3.0. Please enjoy!
Everything is feeling a bit strange this year for obvious reasons but in times of trouble, I always feel reassured by going back to basics and keeping things as normal as possible.
Is it Still Worth Doing My Hair For Christmas in 2020?
I’d imagine lots of you have been asking yourselves this question and my answer is 100% yes! If you make your usual efforts to look your best for Christmas, I guarantee it will make you feel so much for excited for what should always be a really special time of year.
You might want some ideas for your Zoom Christmas Party Hair or your Christmas Day Hair. I have already planned out what I am doing with my hair for Christmas Day, so I thought I’d share the steps.
Christmas Glam Hair Tutorial
In order to create a good long lasting style that will survive the whole of Christmas Day, or your zoom party, it’s all about the prep. This will be especially important if you are going to be cooking Christmas lunch and getting up close and personal with the oven like I will be!
Wash & Condition the hair
You want to make sure that you start your prep using a good, high performance shampoo and conditioner duo. It’s always a good idea to use products from the same brand and range as they have been specifically formulated to work well together. This was something I was told on the Cosmetic Science course I did at the beginning of the year.
This is a really crucial step you can do before you actually start to work on your hair, to make sure you lock in the style. I was introduced to L’Oreal Professionnel TECNI.ART Pli* in a salon years ago, and I have to say, you can’t beat it when you really need waves or smoothness that you want to last.
It gives the hair great shape memory, grip and hold whilst boosting volume and adding a bit of root lift. It’s amazing. It also makes my bouncy Steampod waves bounce even more. I simply mist it generously from root to tip and then gently dry it into my hair before using the L’Oréal Professionnel Steampod to create the waves.
My hair drinks up oil, so I like to use a couple of pumps straight after TECNI.ART Pli and before drying, for extra shine, enhanced condition and heat protection. It protects up to 230 degrees and also makes my hair smell amazing.
Dry & Style
I’m terrible at giving myself a bouncy blowdry, but luckily I don’t need to with the Steampod 3.0*. I simply rough dry my hair and then start working on the waves after.
The Steampod is super simple to use. You fill up the pod with water, switch it on and as soon as it is heated up, start styling. Just take two inch-wide sections and lead with the fine comb.
You can use it to straighten and smooth, or create waves by turning the plates as you glide them through the hair. Let each section cool before dressing it out to allow the hair to set. Check out this blog post with a full styling tutorial.
I just lightly mist the mid lengths to ends for super shine.
If I want a bit of extra volume at the roots, I sometimes use L’Oreal Professionnel TECNI.ART Super Dust*. You just need to puff a small amount right into the root area and then massage in with fingertips for extra grip and lift.
