Bouclème is a British company that specialised in products for curly hair. I have medium curly hair and all my life I have battled with my crazy hair. Anyone with curly hair will tell you, it ain’t the same as straight hair. You can’t just quickly dry it out and give it a brush. Thinking about how large my hair would become if I did that makes me laugh. Curly hair needs specific handling, a less is more approach.
What you need to know about Bouclème:
- Made in the U.K.
- Cruelty free
- Sustainable and Fair Trade
- Create products specifically for curly hair that are silicone and sulphate free
Bouclème has hit the nail on the head with its range of curly hair products. All their formulations are free from sulphates, silicones, mineral oils, petroleum, propylene glycol, PEGs, parabens, and artificial fragrances and colours.
Take note of the “silicone free” aspect, silicone is in most shampoos and conditioners. Silicone coats the hair and gives hair products that pleasant slippery feeling. But it also gets under the cuticles and prevents moisture from penetrating into hair. After time this plastic coating leaves hair dry and we reach for a product to bring the shine back, this product most likely contains silicone; the cycle continues.
Bouclème advised that I would need to use their products for more than 3 weeks as a sort of “Silicone detox”. I was up for seeing how going silicone free affected my woolly barnet. I’m meant to be reviewing the wash bag, not the products, but I can’t help telling you about how lovely they are. The shampoo and conditioner feel totally different from any other I’ve used- free from that slick chemical feel and the scent is fresh and light. The styling products leave my hair nourished and frizz free.
Bouclème Wash Bag
Anyway, onto the product I am here to tell you about. This holiday season Bouclème has brought out this beautiful wash bag. It’s an ideal present for curly hair girls. The wash bag has a monochrome swirl designed created by illustrator Mandy Maria with a colourful zip (you can choose orange or green). The bag is made of oil cloth and has a waterproof lining. It’s roomy too; got to have a roomy wash bag. Can’t be dealing with weeny tiny wash bags. I have a lot of wash stuff.
The wash bag is £19 on it’s own or £35 with 4 small bottles, or £50 with 3 full size products giving a few options depending on your budget.
The wash bag comfortably carries 4 minis and a large bottle, with space for more.
Bouclème’s wash bag looks great. The design is lovely (I checked out Mandy Maria, she does some really cool designs). It’s also practical, waterproof, wipe clean and has tons of space. Ideal for trips and an excellent choice for women of the curly hair persuasion. The packaging is really attractive- pastel coloured stripes, and the products are wonderful. As a curly person, I would be chuffed to bits if someone got me this as a present.
