With the new year come New Year’s resolutions, one of which was to start to make the switch to more natural, eco-friendly and cruelty free products that still deliver excellence. Antonia Burrell is a UK skincare expert who became renowned for her Natural Face Lift Facial. She is also a ‘natural beauty pioneer with a 100% natural, ethical and sustainable product line’.

Her products are

  • ‘entirely free from the typical ‘nasties’ like parabens, petrochemicals, synthetic fragrance, SLS, PEGS, glycols and other synthetic chemicals commonly found in mainstream beauty products’

  • ‘The skincare collection is not tested on animals’.

  • ‘Ethically, ecologically and sustainably sourced Antonia Burrell Holistic Skincare continues to support organic growers in the UK and throughout the world.’

  • ‘The bottles are recyclable, made from violet glass’

This ticks all the boxes for me but does it still work? I had the opportunity to try their latest release, Biotech Suprême Pressed Serum.

This is a world first all-natural pressed serum. A skin perfecting elixir that is a serum, moisturiser and primer all in one powered by green biotechnology.

Antonia Burrell Biotech Suprême Pressed Serum – The claims:

Immediately: Skin is quenched, plumped, and lifted.

Within Days: Skin reveals new radiance, clarity and glows with health.

Over time: Skin is further protected from premature ageing, pigmentation, inflammation and oxidation; the complexion is clear, bright, firm and radiant.

The four key plant powered ingredients:

  • Pumpkin fermentation technology – has the same effect as glycolic acid (hurrah), delicately exfoliates, smooths the skin and brightens complexion.
  • Lilac Leaf Stem Cell Technology – speeds up the skins natural healing process as well as UVA/B damage. It also helps with reducing acne, inflammation and redness.
  • Safflower and Vitamin E Oleosome Technology – time released micro spheres that offer hydration and improve skins elasticity as well as protecting against environmental pollutants.
  • Pomegranate and Neroli Peptide Technology – boosts collagen synthesis by 102% which helps to keep skin supple, smooth and plump… it also firms and lifts the skin for up to 4 hours.

With all this natural goodness, I couldn’t wait to dive in.

Antonia Burrell Biotech Suprême Pressed Serum – The testing:

This product can be used in two ways. Firstly, as a moisturiser / primer before makeup. Secondly, as a serum; apply 1-2 pumps warmed between the hands and pressed on to the face, then proceed with your usual skincare.

I tried it both ways – for the first week as a moisturiser / primer, then the second week as a serum pre-usual skin care ritual.

The consistency of the product was something that I couldn’t quite get to grips with. It’s smooth yet gritty which meant I found it difficult to apply and let it absorb into the skin.  The smell is also something that some people may find overwhelming; it smells natural and earthy, which I personally don’t mind.

My final thoughts.

I really preferred using this as a serum and it was great as a moisturiser for my neck and décolletage. In terms of results, I didn’t see anything noticeable (in either way the product was applied), but I did notice that some redness in my skin did subside over time. If I am perfectly honest I personally think that the company’s ethos and the products natural ingredients outweigh any lack of radical differences that I may have seen. If you are into natural skincare I really think you should give Antonia Burrell a look. You can find the Antonia Burrell Biotech Pressed Serum here.
